About

A directory built for the people who actually use fiber mills

Fiber Mill Directory exists because finding a fiber mill should not require hours of searching, cross-referencing outdated lists, and hoping someone in a Facebook group remembers the name of that place in Vermont.

We maintain a directory of fiber mills across the United States — currently 64 mills in 24 states — with the practical details that matter: what fibers they process, what services they offer, their minimums, and their turnaround times. No paywalls, no logins, no sponsored rankings.

Who this is for

Small flock owners and fiber farmers who shear once or twice a year and need a reliable mill to turn raw fleece into something usable. You want to know: will they take my 8 pounds of alpaca? How long will it take? What will it cost?

Hand spinners, weavers, and fiber artists looking for mill-prepared roving, batts, or custom-spun yarn from specific breeds or blends. You want to know: do they offer batch separation? Can they spin fingering weight? Do they card custom blends?

Small yarn brands and makers who need consistent processing for products they sell. You want to know: can they handle 50 pounds a quarter? Do they offer private labeling? What is their quality like at scale?

What we include in each listing

Every mill listing covers:

  • Fiber types accepted — wool, alpaca, mohair, llama, cashmere, silk blends, and others
  • Services offered — washing, carding, combing, spinning, dyeing, felting, and specialty services
  • Minimum order — the smallest amount of fiber they will accept
  • Turnaround time — how long from intake to finished product
  • Location — useful if you prefer to drop off fiber in person
  • Contact information — website and phone when available

When a mill does not publish certain details on their website, we note that so you know to ask directly.

How we gather information

Mill details come from publicly available information on each mill’s own website. We verify and update listings periodically. If you are a mill owner and something in your listing is wrong or missing, let us know and we will fix it.

Free to use, free to list

Every listing in the directory is free. Mill owners do not pay to be listed, and visitors do not pay to search. The directory exists to connect fiber people with the processors who serve them.
